Located in the heart of Raleigh, Merrimon Wynne House is an estate that feels custom-made for luxurious weddings! With its picture-perfect backdrops and its high-end accommodations, this location gives you everything you could need for your dream celebration! As a North Carolina wedding photographer, I get to go all across the state, documenting some of the best venues, and I was recently featured in Green Wedding Shoes for a wedding I shot at this very location. Here’s a guide for what you can expect at a Merrimon Wynne House wedding!
500 North Blount Street, Raleigh, North Carolina 27604
The Merrimon-Wynne House dates back to 1876 when it was first built as a private residence. The house stood for years on N. Wilmington Street where it took on a second life as a dormitory hall and then another as an office space. In 2008, it was purchased and then moved to its current spot where it now serves as an event venue perfect for your dream wedding!
The Merrimon-Wynne house has designated spots for every second of your wedding. Ahead of your celebration, you will be shown to one of the two preparation suites, where you will have natural lighting and vintage furniture perfect for candid snapshots!
They offer several indoor and outdoor spaces for your wedding ceremony. For those who prefer an outside service, you can use the lawn to the side of the house, where you can either set up your altar in front of the wrap-around porch or in the back by the tree line. If you would prefer an indoor ceremony, you can use the Carriage House (be sure to check out my feature if you would like some ideas!).
Your guests can gather around the porch for some cocktails before it’s time for your reception. The last portion of your night can be held either indoors in the Carriage House or outside in the lawn. This venue is ready to host up to 275 guests.
For your wedding portraits, there are several Merrimon Wynne House spots you can use. The preparation suites or the front porch are fabulous places for your first look pictures. The stairs inside the home are the best for stylized individual and couple portraits. For your group pictures, the lawn in front of the house is perfect!
This award-winning venue has all-inclusive packages that will help you plan your perfect day. They offer in-house rentals, a florist, and a DJ service, plus they have partnered with a local caterer for your meals. They can provide you with a fire pit as well as lawn games to liven up your cocktail hour.
Recently, I was lucky enough to be invited to share a wedding at The Merrimon Wynne House with Green Wedding Shoes (check it out here)! When Nicole and Daniel asked me to document their day, I couldn’t say no! The wedding was both stylish and iconic, with the house serving as the best backdrop for their portraits. The neutral tones of their wedding fit in perfectly with the white backdrop of the venue, and the lawn was a fantastic spot for their garden party-themed reception. I also love how the editorial film pictures of their reception turned out!
I really hope this guide helps you out with your Merrimon Wynne House wedding! Now, you just need the right person by your side to help you capture it. If you are looking for a bubbly North Carolina wedding photographer who is already familiar with this venue, you’ve come to the right place! I would love to be there by your side so you can tell your unique love story. Send me a message today if you would like to learn more!
